Cultivating Collaborative Culture! Together Everyone Achieves More!

As a network we are always looking for ways in which we can build our businesses. Our goal at the NGLCCNY has always been to cultivate a collaborative culture and to that end we relentlessly champion referrals, alliances and strategic partnerships. Cameron Event Design recently showcased how the relationships we are building are keys to our collective success.

Glenn Reimer owner of Cameron Event Design and Amy Mayes of Amy Mayes Photography joined efforts and provided services to Marquis Studios a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing arts-in‐education services to over 90 New York City public schools, for their annual “A Year in Pictures” Art Gallery Exhibition, Opening Night reception and Awards Ceremony at Pratt Manhattan Gallery.

This event showcases the winning student artwork. This years’ “A Kaleidoscope of Cultures” featured calendar art by Students with Disabilities, as well as District 75 Marquis Studios students. The week-long Exhibit was part of the ongoing celebrations of VSA’s 40th Anniversary, promoting art by and for People with Disabilities.
Glenn and Amy shared how this engagement came to be and the bond they strengthened.

How did you find the opportunity for Amy to join you?
When the client said he wanted a photographer for the Awards Ceremony with the VIPs and a step and repeat, I immediately recommended Amy knowing and respecting her work. I put them in touch with each other and they quickly hired her.

What is the feedback you received regarding Amy’s work?
The event went really well and the Executive Director was thrilled that Amy was able to get a lot of “candids” during the day as well as the traditional VIP shots.

How did you and Glenn connect to make this opportunity possible?
Glenn Reimer and I met through the NGLCCNY when I first joined the chamber in 2013.  Around that time, I was shooting Chamber mixers which afforded me the opportunity to showcase my event work to other members.  Recently Glenn and his event planning company, Cameron Event Design, were hired by Marquis Studios to plan an event and they needed a photographer.  Glenn recommended me for the job and shortly thereafter I was hired.

How did the collaboration work?
Glenn and I collaborated to make sure our clients got everything they needed.  Glenn's event planning and my photography helped make the event a success!  I'm grateful to the Chamber for creating business opportunities for their members.
