Thomas Koveleskie says the best aspect of his work is seeing how his advice helps people find the freedom to do what they want with their lives. “I'm very emotionally and personally invested in the success of the individuals and families I serve through my practice at UBS,” says Koveleskie, a financial advisor and certified financial planner at UBS. Regardless of their current financial situation, Koveleskie sees his clients as economies unto themselves, with unique strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. “I'm very selective about the client work I take on,” he says. “It's not just about the money; a client's goals and dreams are hugely important to me.” Koveleskie also plays an active role in helping the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in New York advance in business. A resident of New York City since the early 1990s, Koveleskie says he has witnessed a profound evolution in the LGBT community while he has evolved p

Osborn, Esq., was officially launched on Friday morning, April 13, 2012, with a breakfast talk with United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. This first of its kind NGLCCNY event, held at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP with more than 150 attendees ranging from lawyers to politicians, was hugely successful. Senator Gillibrand provided us with a legislative synopsis of issues currently in the forefront of the LGBT community. Senator Gillibrand takes very seriously and is quite proud to serve as the "voice for the voiceless", whether it is the LGBT community, women, or an

Member Insider: American Cancer Society

Image
No one ever wants to think about getting cancer. You may even be tempted to skip over this Spotlight Interview in order to avoid some of the inevitable discomfort cancer discussions bring up. But as I learned from Myrna Duarte of American Cancer Society, awareness of this disease, and its unique issues within the GLBT community, is half the battle. Please take a moment to read this valuable information that could save your life as well as the lives of your family, loved ones, colleagues, and Chamber members. Damon L. Jacobs: Tell me about your work with American Cancer Society. Myrna Duarte: My title is Director of Diversity Initiatives. I basically look at underserved diverse communities and see how we can do our work better. We do a great job already, but I find if there is a way to further our message to people that need our help. Just giving information is so important in helping people learn what they should be doing, how they should be eating, what screenings they need.

Member Insider: PROSCENIUM

Back in the day, companies and corporations were known for having special parties and events for prized clients and prospective customers. But Chuck Santoro and the creators of Proscenium have taken these meetings to a whole new level. By incorporating set designs, choreography, and pushing limits of space and lighting, Santoro has given an entirely new meaning to "the company picnic." Join me for this Spotlight Interview to learn how Santoro went from being an FAO Schwarz toy soldier doorman, to becoming the partner of a groundbreaking New York event planning agency, while keeping his integrity and sense of play alive and viable. Damon L. Jacobs: Let's start by talking about your company “ Proscenium. ” What does that name mean? Chuck Santoro: When were coming up with names for the company we didn’t want it to be about us, about our individual names. We wanted it to be about what we do. We went through so many different names, no one was happy. Then one morning
