NGLCCNY Creates Collaboration Opportunities For Its Non-Profit Members

written by Ingrid Galvez,
Diversity & Inclusion Outreach Chair, NGLCCNY

Last fall the NGLCCNY began its Social Impact Industry Council monthly spotlight.  This initiative is designed to engage non-profit members and share who they are, what they do in the community and how the LGBTA business community could participate in their endeavors. Since the spotlight began the following are Non-profit members who have presented themselves to the NGLCCNY membership SAGEWorks, Imperial Court of New York (ICNY), Brooklyn Community Pride Center, The Bronx LGBTQ Center, Marriage Equality USA, TrueColors Fund, GMHC, GLAAD, amfARThe Public Theater, and this month Anti-Violence Project to name a few.

In January the Imperial Court of New York (ICNY), an organization known for raising awareness and funds for organizations providing HIV/AIDS educational and supportive services to the LGBT community at large joined the NGLCCNY and there met Brian McGovern of the North Jersey Community Research Initiative.

The North Jersey Community Research Initiative (NJCRI) is one of New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive HIV/AIDS community-based organizations.  A friendship ensued and recently The Imperial Court held a fundraiser to celebrate and support the good works of NJCRI.  In attendance were ICNY and NGLCCNY members showing support for both organizations.
