Make a Difference as a Volunteer Site Visitor

The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, NGLCCNY's parent organization based in Washington, D.C., is looking for volunteers to conduct site visits in New York for potential LGBT-owned Business Enterprise certifications.

One of the Chamber's primary missions is certifying LGBT-owned businesses. The certification permits companies to:

  • receive national recognition
  • obtain access to NGLCC Corporate Partners
  • be advocated for as NGLCC and NGLCCNY increase awareness of the interests of LGBT-owned businesses.

The certification process is highly rigorous. It follows protocols designed by NGLCC to maintain integrity and transparency to the satisfaction of Corporate Partners utilizing LGBT-owned businesses in their supply chains.

Site visits are a critical component to the certification process. They are conducted in order to corroborate the information provided by the applicant. A site visit is the final step before an application moves to the national certification committee.

Most site visits take less than an hour. They are a good way to meet budding enterprises in the area - to connect with the greater LGBT business community on the ground.  Before conducting a site visit, the visitor is asked to participate in a brief, over-the-phone training reviewing the necessary documents. The visitor also signs a non-disclosure agreement. The visitor's travel expenses are reimbursed by NGLCC.

If you’d like to play an important role in causing LGBT presence in the workplace by becoming a site visitor, please contact supplierdiversity@nglcc.org.
